This series is a continuation of the Short Staff Fighting Workshop.  Here we will delve further into Chinese short staff fighting techniques.  We will cover the following:

·        Basic conditioning exercises to develop the chest, arms, back and shoulders.

·        Power striking drills.

·        The 11 key blocking and striking techniques of the chines short staff.

·        Footwork drills specializing in the use of chines short staff.

·        2 man fighting sets.

·        Short staff form to link blocking, striking, footwork, breath and eye hand coordination.

Notable martial art styles that utilize the short staff are Hapkido, Bartitsu, Eskrima, Goju-Ryu Karate and Chinese Kung Fu. In this workshop, we will go over applications that utilize short staff fighting techniques against both empty handed and armed assailants. The short staff also provides unique ways to develop striking and blocking prowess.

All participants should bring a short staff.

The Three Reflexes Of Chi Sao

When you are engaged in Chi Sao with an opponent there are 3 reflexes which must become second nature to you. In this seminar you will learn the three primary reflexes, how to recognize and differentiate between them and learn how to properly capitalize on how your opponent moves or holds his structure.

In this seminar we will cover:

1) The three reflexes from 2 hand and single hand chi sao.

2) How to employ these actions in combat

3) Applying your chi sao from moving from pre contact

4) Combat applications
